The new best all-in-one chess application, synced with our mobile app!
October 9, 2026
TL;DR:
Over the past months, we have been working on something bigger than our regular feature updates: ChessMonitor Studio, a new all-in-one application for working with chess databases.

So far, our explorers, the Ultra Database and your personal statistics lived on separate pages. That worked well for quick lookup, but serious preparation meant jumping between tabs and tools. Studio brings all of this together in one place and lets you decide how your workspace looks.
The biggest change is how you interact with chess boards. In Studio, every board lives in its own tab, similar to tabs in a web browser. You can open as many boards as you need and even move them side by side. You can effectively, build your own workspace by moving notation, engines, explorers and game databases where you like. Everything stays synchronized with your active board.

Everyone prepares differently and prefers different window layouts, so ChessMonitor Studio allows you to arrange everything as you like.
You can finally add own files to Studio which will be synchronized with our mobile app for iPhone and Android. Your games or repertoire are stored inside of databases. You can search these for positions and quickly find the games you were looking for!
There is a lot more to say about some other new features in our app. So we will cover it in a separate post soon.
Just like with our mobile app, Studio was build together with Anish Giri. Anish has been using Studio for his own preparation for multiple months now. His daily use influenced many of the decisions. Studio is also already being used by many other professional chess players. That said, it’s not just targeting the very best, buy but any player who looks to take their prep and analysis to the next level.
ChessMonitor Studio is available in Beta right now to all paying customers. If you already have a subscription, you can open it right away at chessmonitor.com/studio. If not, you can find our plans on the pricing page.
Studio is just getting started, and like most of ChessMonitor, its future will be shaped by your feedback. Right now we are looking to implementing cloud engines so that you can run engines like Lc0 and “heavier” Stockfish in the cloud. In addition, you will soon be able to port existing databases (that you’ve uploaded prior via your account) to our new database format in Studio. Right now, the old databases are read-only.
As always, thank you for all the feedback and suggestions. Many of our improvements start as community requests. You can upvote ideas from other users on our Feature Suggestions page or add your own.
